Klaasje Prins

(she/her)

Associate Therapist
Registered Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Klaasje (sounds like Klasha). I support neurodivergent and 2SLGBTQIA+folks with anxiety, depression, body image and eating concerns, grief, and stress in an affirmative, compassionate and trauma-informed lens. Drawing upon transpersonal, existential and mindfulness therapies, I help clients slow down, attend to their real needs, and connect with their authentic self. I guide clients through a deep process of coming back to themselves.

I have seen that when we feel separated from our most true and authentic selves, that is when symptoms such as anxiety, depression, disordered eating or stress pop up. These symptoms are not “bad”, but they are often signs of something deeper within us that is asking to be listened to. When we begin to learn how to listen to ourselves on a deeper level, that is when healing has the space to begin to occur.

If you have more questions or feel like this process might be a good fit for you, reach out and let’s set up a time to connect! I am always happy to spend time going over what working with me might look like and see if it feels right for you.

Dani Gagnon

(she/they)

Clinical Intern Therapist

Hi, I’m Dani, a Clinical Intern and Pre-licensed Psychotherapist currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology. I take a client-centered, trauma-aware approach that’s flexible and collaborative. I draw from psychodynamic, existential, and cognitive-behavioural therapies, depending on what actually feels useful for the person sitting across from me.

As a queer, non-binary therapist-in-training, I’m especially interested in working with folks navigating identity, burnout, grief, relationship dynamics, and the general messiness of being a human. I try to bring warmth, honesty, and a bit of humour into the therapy room, I don’t believe therapy needs to feel clinical or performative to be effective.

Before moving into this work, I spent over a decade running a creative agency and working as a public speaker, which taught me a lot about how systems shape our mental health and how important it is to stay connected to who we are, even when that’s complicated.

I’m currently offering sliding scale sessions through Rainbow Counselling as part of my practicum. If it feels like we might click, you’re welcome to get in touch.

Asta Au

Clinical Intern Therapist
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

How often have you had to leave parts of yourself (your ethnicity, your queer identity, your mental health) at the door? Sometimes you might need to be someone else in order to feel safe. It can be hard to love and accept yourself, especially when you live in a world where you are told to keep parts of yourself hidden in order to fit in. I know and understand how racism, discrimination, colonial, structural oppression and queer identities can impact our mental health. I am here to create a safe enough space so that you can feel comfortable bringing all that you are and all that you want to be in our sessions.

I am an Expressive Arts Therapist, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MA candidate at Yorkville University, using multiple approaches and in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed frame. I work using the arts as a vehicle to find your inner voice and creativity and explore your strengths and resources. I primarily work with Asian, 2SLGBTQIA+ and Neurodiverse folks.

You are the expert on your own experiences. I am here to guide, to be with, to hold, to witness and be a companion on your journey.

I have both research interests and lived experience in the exploration of body image, gender, sexuality, and consensual non-monogamy, as well as the unique issues of older queer people, rural residents and those accessing counselling virtually. I want to use my background in these topics to support people who are dealing with these same issues and themes.

  • Gender identity is a complex and personal aspect of our lives, and it can take time to fully understand and come to terms with. For individuals who identify as transgender or gender non-conforming, seeking support from a gender therapist can be an important step in their journey towards self-discovery and acceptance.

Some common therapeutic approaches used by gender therapists include cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and narrative therapy.

In addition to providing therapeutic support, gender therapists in Ontario are often able to connect clients with resources and support groups in the local community. This can help individuals build a network of support and find acceptance within their chosen communities.
